1974 First time Zappa... Awesome !

Why was '75 so bad?

It was the third show with Roy on bass and although he was ok it really didn't really seem like Frank was into it.
After seeing the Roxy band the year before it really was a musical letdown.
Frank didn't come back to Portland for five years after that.

Yeah, I can imagine how that could have been a let down after seeing the Roxy band.

What I can't imagine is the '84 band ever being "great". Which means I probably would have liked the '75 show just fine. Robert Martin alone guarantees diminishing returns.

In retrospect I'd take a FZ show from any year just fine. There's recorded evidence from all the eras and I find them all entertaining. The '84 stuff on YCDTOA Vol. 3 is a lot of fun.

^ Do you have a least favorite Zappa line up, KUlll? (Is there a thread here for rating line ups?) Roxy is the one I listen to most.

It's his fashion sense, isn't it?
