I'd like to vote for a ban on censored words. It makes no sense: spammers will find their way in anyway and it just messes people here up when they can't openly discuss P.orn Wars, m.ortgages or CD s.tores.

A username and password are being requested by http://newsicus.com. The site says: "NWSCS" I got it several times when I tried to reply to a thread.

What has happened here is a link to a file which has restricted access on some other site has been included here. The person who posted it has access and they probably forgot that. So when the forum tries to load it you get a password box instead.

I've replied to that thread before and never got that(?).

If you go to either page 1 or 2 of that thread it doesn't happen. So somewhere on page 3 of that thread is a link to a password protected file, I can't figure out which one it is but it's on http://newsicus.com/ which has nothing to do with this forum.

Edit: I've sussed it out, it's the ghost of Jimmie D, the link is in Jimmie D's post, the second post on the page, he's not here any more so he can't edit it so I've asked admin to do it.

Poly-I tried to take your last quote but it limits 3 within a quote.
Here's what I said:

OK. Thanks for that detective work.

I just received the most ridiculous PM I have ever gotten:

Mikey wrote:

So, Jimmie D, an actual contributor to the board, gets banned, but Mikey refuses to posts that are legitimately abusive? The hell?

Yes, I'm sure you're happy that obnoxious assholes like yourself are still here while actual Zappa fans like Jimmie D have been banned. Go away.

Interesting that there's quote level limit.

Anyway, Mikey fixed the problem. I have to admit, the first time it happened to me with the new forum and all I wondered what the hell was going on but then I remembered I had to deal with that password hassle in the last school I worked in which had security all over it.

I think the new forum is awesome! I like the "view active topics" link the most!

With the trends of Reality TV steering on it's coarse
art has become very compartmentalized.
POLLS which share the same basic fabric have become quite popular.

While in the past I had debated long and hard as to how
Favorati was not artistically in alignment of representing FZs art
for quite some time
I have come to an understanding that POLLS are a fan based desire
of viewing art in some form of favorite ideology.
This weighted representation of this forum deserves clarity.

- My request would be to have a Zappa Albums POLL area
where POLLS are sticky threads in the order of Official Release.

- Since FZ Project Object was part of a bigger plan there are countless
Conceptual ways to expand upon Official releases.
All new POLLS could access a master database for album and track selection.
These new POLLS that forum users create would appear below the Sticky List.

While none of this,
well maybe I have found Zappa Halloween is
THE BEST SONIC FORMAT MEDIA RELEASE IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND
I repeat none of this is basically a preference to my appreciation for FZs art just a request for Forum Clarity.
Since POLLS as stated is weighted part of this forum
it would be nice to see a place that Clarifies and Isolates this ideology from traditional views of artistic appreciation.
Separating these POLLS from the Zappa Albums a would be a form of housekeeping
where these POLLS at times have weighed down the Zappa Albums area.
This still gives POLLS a place that represents that philosophy.

I assume Trendmonger had a point buried somewhere in the twisted wreckage of his post. But if he was saying that polls are often pointless, I guess I agree.

Regardless of my opinions of POLLS
as long as they remain as a part of this Forum
their weight factor is significant.

I was requesting the Zappa Album POLL Area
to be segregated from the Zappa Album Area.

I think segregation and organization will offer clarity.
This Housekeeping will also keep the Zappa Album
area from being weighted by that ideology while maintaing
the concept for those that revel in it.

Doesn't really matter, because of the view active topics thing. You can follow threads you are interested in or see where posters are at, and avoid all things you don't like/are not interested in.

I think it does matter because the idea of Forum Areas is significant.
Not every user is going to be interested in viewing active topics.
Sure it's nice to have that option there if you want to use it
but topic areas are important
for organization, cohesiveness and focus.
Some people come here to read and or get into dialog on specific topics as
has already been long laid out by the areas.
POLLS are weighing down the Album area.
A new Zappa Album POLL area could clear that up.

If Active topic was the priority of organization there would be no need for topic areas
where the forum would be one flat collection of topics and threads.
Databases have long been far more efficient, for decades, with the collection and sorting of data.

I want to point out that I did not bring this up for some loud debate or argument
of POLLs but more so to request that segregation of POLLS
would provide good housekeeping for the Zappa Album area.

Personally, I think this is a good idea. I enjoy the poll threads: it's nice to see the preferences of other people. However, the threads do tend to congregate en masse at the top at times. A separate area for them would indeed tidy things up a bit, and would also function as a 'no go area' for those who dislike them...

Al I am saying is that threads you don't like, you should avoid. If Mikey moved all the polls to one area, that would be fine.
or, per FZ "Are You Hung Up?"
