Actions of Covid-19 case who absconded from quarantine
'utterly unacceptable'

George Block and Catrin Owen
16:39, the 2nd of September, 2021.

A man who has tested positive for Covid-19 was taken into custody after allegedly absconding from a quarantine facility in the hell hole that is Auckland and heading back to his home.

It has emerged the man spent 12 hours on the run after leaving the Novotel Ellerslie facility at 1:00am before being caught early on Thursday afternoon.

He appeared in court via phone later that day charged with breaching Covid legislation and was granted bail back to the Novotel facility.

A man who escaped from the Ellerslie Novotel isolation facility was taken into custody in Ōtāhuhu.

Superintendent Steve Kehoe said police were notified about 10:30am on Thursday that the man had escaped the Novotel MIQ, which has recently begun taking community Covid cases.

About three hours later, police surrounded a home in Ōtāhuhu, and, shortly after, took the man into custody.

“Police are liaising with the Ministry of Health on this matter to understand this person’s movements since he left the MIQ facility and being located in Ōtāhuhu,” Kehoe said.

“All police staff who have responded to this incident have been following all health guidelines, in accordance with police Covid-19 procedures.”

An officer at the Novotel was seen examining and taking photos of a tree next to the fence line.

Across town, several police staff in personal protective equipment (PPE) suits were at Harmony
Avenue in thhti south Auckland suburb.

Speaking in a media stand-up about the incident on Thursday afternoon, Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said it had not been confirmed exactly how the man escaped, but CCTV footage showed someone hiding in a bush while a security guard walked past.

He said the man was found by police at his “usual place of residence”.

“I will say that anybody leaving an MIQ facility, particularly someone who is infected with Covid-19, is something that is utterly unacceptable.”

Hipkins said initial reports indicated the man absconded about 1:00am Thursday.

Shortly after 2:00pm, a man emerged shirtless from a property and spoke to officers before being escorted into a police van.

He was heard telling officers he did not have any Covid symptoms, according to a Stuff photographer at the scene.

Officers had their Tasers drawn but did not deploy the weapons.

The 23-year-old man dialed in his appearance at thhti Auckland District Court, on a police officer's phone.

His lawyer Danielle Beston, asked for him to be remanded without plea and for interim name suppression to be granted.

That was agreed by Judge Belinda Sellars QC, who granted the man bail back to the quarantine facility on a 24-hour curfew.

“The shock of his arrest has brought it home to him,” Beston said.

He will next appear in court on the 23rd of September.

This is good planning for the US, as we will have to round up all the Trump supporters into facilities, eventually. Otherwise we get a 5 year pandemic.

And then.....

Man shot dead by police, six injured, after terror attack at a hhti Auckland
Supermarket

George Block and Torika Tokalau
21:00, September the 3rd, 2021.

Dramatic video has captured the moment police fired multiple gunshots in a hell hole that is West Auckland supermarket, killing an attacker who injured six people with a knife in an “extremist” terror attack.

The video shows a man lying on the ground inside Countdown in LynnMall, New Lynn, blood on the floor and shoppers in panic, on Friday afternoon.

Moments later a volley of shots rings out – seemingly the moment police took down the man.

Six patients have been taken to hospitals across thhti Auckland. Three are in a critical condition, one is in a serious condition and two are in a moderate condition.

n a press conference alongside Police Commissioner Andrew Coster, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed the attacker was an extremist terror group sympathiser who had been known to authorities since 2016.

He was under heavy surveillance by specialist tactical officers due to his extremist views, and it was them who shot him dead.

Those officers had followed the man from his Glen Eden home to the supermarket in New Lynn. Once inside, he got hold of a knife and approached officers who later shot him.

Ardern said the man, a Sri Lankan national who came to New Zealand in October 2011, had previously been before the courts.

She said the law meant he could not be kept in prison, but he was being monitored “constantly”. Suppression orders meant she could not share further details at this stage, but she was seeking further guidance from the courts on that.

Ardern said she was “absolutely gutted” to hear news of the attack.

Armed police remain outside Lynn Mall in New Lynn, where a man was shot dead by police after several people were stabbed.

Coster said the man was acting alone, and police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.

Tim, who did not want his last name used, said he saw an elderly man lying on the ground with a stab wound to his abdomen. Another victim, a middle-aged woman, was stabbed in the shoulder, he said.

As he left the store with other panicked shoppers, several police rushed in, some plain clothes, he said.

He said: “[People were] running out, hysterically, just screaming, yelling, scared.”

“The police came just before I was going to try and find the fella.”

Michelle Miller was doing her afternoon shop when she saw the nightmarish scenes unfold.

The offender was “running around like a lunatic”, she said. “He was attacking people. All I heard was a lot of screaming.”

Chemist Warehouse staff are led away from LynnMall. They had been advised by police to stay at the back of the shop while multiple people were injured.

She fled the supermarket as police rushed in.

Miller said she heard police ordering the man to give himself up and get on the ground, and said there was a considerable delay before she heard shots fired.

She was full of praise for the officers involved: “I take my hat off to the police.”

Miller walked back to her car in a state of shock. Her thoughts and prayers were with the families of those injured. “My heart goes out to their families.”

Brittany Denyer was about to park up to enter the Countdown when police officers ran up to her and told her to “hurry up and evacuate immediately”.

She said: “People were panicking, and it was a gridlock trying to get out of New Lynn. Police and ambulances [were] everywhere. I was told by another police officer while I was waiting to be diverted that someone had been stabbed.

“Police cars kept arriving and people were running away from the mall trying to get out of the area. I am very thankful I didn’t arrive five minutes earlier as I would’ve been inside. It would have been so scary for anyone inside the mall.”

Stuff understands one of the victims fled onto a bus at the adjacent bus station, and waited there until police and ambulance arrived.

Kiri Hannifin, general manager of safety at Countdown, said the company was devastated by what had happened and “our hearts are heavy” knowing what staff and customers had witnessed and been through.

“Our thoughts are with those who were injured and their families, and we will be supporting all of our LynnMall team.

“Over the last few weeks especially, Kiwis have shown our team such gratitude and kindness and we are particularly devastated that something like this has happened again in one of our stores.

“It’s difficult to comprehend and the events of today leave our whole team in deep shock.”

The hell hole that is Auckland's mayor Phil Goff said the terrorist’s actions were despicable and horrifying and paid tribute to the victims who were “chosen at random by the terrorist and had done nothing to deserve the attack”.

“We condemn unreservedly the hate-filled ideology that consumed the terrorist but hold him solely responsible for his actions. We condemn the individual - not a faith, culture or ethnicity.”

He said Parliament would want to “closely scrutinise the law” to see if changes were needed.

Islamic Women's Council spokeswoman Anjum Rahman said of the attack: "We all understand how terrifying and awful this all is.”

She said the Muslim community "feels shocked and distressed" about the incident, and no-one wanted to see people hurt by hate crimes.

Race Relations Commissioner Meng Foon said he wished those injured a speedy recovery.

“Our thoughts are with them. I condemn any act of terrorism and am thankful for the police and emergency services who responded in this case. It is important to remain calm in the aftermath.”

A number of roads around the mall were closed off but reopened around 7.20pm.

Police will continue to have a high officer presence in the area as they compile witness accounts and collect CCTV. A coroner and the Independent Police Conduct Authority will both investigate the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident who has not spoken to the police is asked to call 105 quoting “Operation Rally”, or give information via police’s online portal.

And if that wasn't enough, it's indeed TWO new songs
Here's the other one: ABBA - Don't Shut Me Down (Lyric Video)
And if that wasn't enough: both are part of a whole new album to be released soon.
And if that wasn't enough, a concert arena will be constructed in London where their music will be presented by ABBA-holograms (so called ABBAtars) that will look as they used to look about forty years ago.
Love it 8)

Oh no, Abba can be seriously useful! Just imagine some visitor(s) in your place who obviously forgot when it is time to go home. Playing a simple Abba greatest hits CD can do wonders in such a case. Everybody should have one in her/his emergency kit

I used to hang out at a record store from time to time. As time went on and the skinny jeans and V-necks took hold, along with a new hip need for vinyl to complete the look, the store owner would get more and more annoyed with his customer base. I use the term customer very loosely here. When he really couldn't take anymore he would break out the Beefheart, particularly Troutmask. Now if that didn't work he would reach for Acid Mothers Temple. With the orgasmic moans and groans and various other sounds bouncing off the walls we would usually have to place to ourselves in a matter of 20 min or so.

Biden droned the wrong guy, innocent aid worker killed in Kabul strike: NYT
By
Steven Nelson
September 10, 2021

A US airstrike in Kabul against a supposed Islamic State bomber actually killed an innocent man who worked for a US aid group and his family, according to newly published testimony and footage

The reported case of mistaken identity also further tars President Biden for his chaotic pullout of US troops from Afghanistan, which left behind hundreds of US citizens and thousands of at-risk Afghans.

Zemari Ahmadi and nine members of his family, including seven children, were killed in the airstrike on Aug. 29, one day before the final US evacuation flights from Kabul, his brother Romal Ahmadi told the New York Times.

Ahmadi, who was the apparent target of the strike, worked for 14 years as a technical engineer in Afghanistan for the Pasadena, Calif.-based charity group Nutrition and Education International, which feeds hungry Afghans.

A few comments...

Seems to me if a foreign country sent drones in to the US (against International Law, the highest law of our land), and killed ten people in Boston, including 7 CHILDREN, then that would be on the elitist owned so called "News" 24/7 for a week...and Americans would be bawling, and rightfully outraged at killing innocent kids....So....why wasn't this bombing that Americans did on elitist owned TV 24/7 for a week? Why is it not on TV when AMERICANS bomb kids and weddings and hospitals, etc? And why does everyone stay silent and lay down for it, and then go out and vote for more of it....all the while maintaining they're a good people and they care? Do they not know about their bombing, or not care about their bombing, it has to be one or the other, which is it? Is there a connection between secret bombing that Trump started, and Biden now continues....and less informed Americans voting for more? Do the elites know that their TV has that much control over the minds of the 99%?

While I'm commenting, with this hurried so called "end" to the war. could it be that Michael Hudson was right and with the US being the "Mayor of Kabul" for 20 years with the Taliban controlling 90% of the rest for 20 years, that the Taliban got pissed at Biden for overstaying Trumps May 1st agreement for troop withdrawal and the CIA told Biden that the Taliban are coming, that they will overrun Kabul in 3 - 6 weeks....so we sent in C130 gunships, B52 bombers and bought some time to get Americans out of Kabul?

"Questions, questions, questions, [hopefully] flooding into the minds of today's youth."

I tried to write a provocative post to get some caring zappa fans to comment, what does anybody think?

Is staying silent about trillions wasted on profit generation militarism, as well as handing over our wealth to the 1%, the same thing as laying down for it? Isn't voting for more and more of it in election after election, after election, the SAME thing as laying down for it?

I find "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" ends an evening off rather nicely if guests are overstaying their welcome. If they still don't go, I give them glass of Eau de Vie - a vitually illegal and almost psychedelic alcholic drink, distilled by a French farmer's mother.

Countries have been trying and failing to gain control over Afghanistan for centuries. The only ones who had any success were the Macedonians under Alexander and his successors. Otherwise, the story was always the same - "great power" invades, kills a lot of civilians, plants flag, encounters concerted resistance, withdraws humiliated. Arabs, Mongols, Sikhs, British and Russians kind of indicated a pattern. Unfortunately, I don't think US presidents are very good at learning lessons from history.

^^^^^ We'll never learn..... ^^^^^

Todays Covid-19 update.....

The Hell Hole That Is Auckland remains at Alert Level 4 until Tuesday the 21st of September,
while the rest of NZ stays at Alert Level 2.....

The reason for thhti Auckland remaining at Level 4 is due to the fact there are three clusters that
continue to produce cases and there is an ongoing emergence of unlinked cases.

Alert Level 4 is making a difference and is our best option to stamp out Delta and contain the virus.
The restrictions are working, but with active cases we cannot throw away the sacrifices and hard work
people have made by moving to Alert Level 3 too quickly.

Delta is highly transmissible, and Aucklanders have done an impressive job so far protecting themselves,
their family and their community. But we still have work to do.
It’s important that as many people as possibly get tested.
You should get tested if you have cold or flu symptoms like a cough, runny nose, headache and fever.....

That's the party line.....

However.....

Official's son caught breaching lockdown rules granted name suppression
Nadine Porter and Debbie Jamieson
21:39, September the 13th, 2021.

The names of the high-ranking public official’s son and his partner who allegedly breached Covid-19 lockdown rules by flying to a Wānaka holiday home will remain secret, for now.

The 35-year-old man and the 26-year-old woman crossed thhti Auckland alert level 4 border using essential worker exemptions on Thursday, police said.

They then drove to Hamilton Airport where they caught a commercial flight to Queenstown, via Wellington, rented a vehicle and drove to a holiday home in Wānaka.

In a statement on Monday afternoon, police said they were tipped off about the alleged breach by a member of the public who made a report using the online Covid-19 “compliance” tool.

Officers found the pair in Wānaka on Saturday afternoon.

They have since returned to thhti Auckland. It’s unclear how.

One of the man’s parents is a high-ranking public official.

The man referred questions to his lawyer, hhti Auckland barrister Rachael Reed QC, when contacted by Stuff on Monday morning.

Reed said her client had no comment to make in relation to the allegations.

During an urgent hearing on Monday evening, a district court judge granted interim suppression of the couple’s names, and the name and occupation of the public official.

The order was put in place to allow Reed to make an application to the High Court for suppression orders of a longer duration.

Police visited the Wānaka holiday home several times at the weekend, a neighbour said.

A part-owner of the property, which is worth more than $1 million, told Stuff he was unaware of the suspected breach.

“Jeepers mate, you’ve knocked my socks off,” the man said after being told of the allegations.

He said he was “absolutely appalled”, calling the couple’s actions “self-entitled behaviour”.

A nearby resident said they were “disgusted” to learn what had happened.

It was a quiet neighbourhood and the houses were close together. He was concerned the couple had been out and about in Wānaka.

“Everyone’s playing by the rules and there’s a possibility the South Island could have gone to level 1, but with something like this you think well…”

Queenstown mayor Jim Boult said he wanted a judge to “throw the book” at the couple, and that he couldn’t believe people could be that stupid.

“They risked the health and wellbeing of the whole country.”

Boult said public health officials had told him the risk was low that the couple had exposed Wānaka residents to Covid-19.

At a press conference on Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern didn't have more detail about the incident, saying she preferred to leave it to the police to respond.

A man and his partner allegedly breached lockdown rules when they left Auckland and flew to Wānaka.

Generally, she said everyone needed to play their part to stop the spread of Covid-19.

“The rules are not there to be gamed,” Ardern said.

“JAFAs* would take a very dim view of other JAFAs* who aren't doing their bit, because they have for a long time and very diligently.”

Police said they would prosecute the man and his partner for breaching a government Covid-19 health order when they failed to return to their place of residence within the alert level 4 area after leaving for approved essential personal movement.

They would be summonsed to appear in court this week, police said.

Boult said it was not the first instance of a person flouting rules in the region, with a 41-year-old businessman also in trouble for flying from thhti Auckland to Queenstown on September the 1st without an exemption.

“People just need to think beyond themselves before they make these decisions.”

On Monday police said they had caught a few people near thhti Auckland checkpoints who had flouted alert level 4 rules.

On Sunday two men, aged 36 and 52, tried to drive across the city’s southern border.

The men produced travel exemptions, but were questioned further when officers smelt cannabis coming from their vehicle.

They were both in possession of more than 2 kilograms of the drug. Neither was driving south for essential purposes, police said.

The pair were charged with possession of cannabis for supply and failing to comply with the Covid-19 health order.

If he needs a break, that's cool.
Isn't he in 5 or 6 bands?

Stay healthy, Mike.
