The average price of automobile fuel in the US was reported as $1.74 US per gallon today. At $1 US = .81 Euro, and 1 gallon US = 3.78 litres, that comes to 0.37 Euros per litre (if my math is correct).

For comparison, please post petrol/gas prices in your corner of the world.

(And now the US bashing about this subject may also begin...)

TYVM.

An average 87.9 to 89.9 a liter now. We think it'll go higher than a dollar in a near future.

We could go on at the price of living.

I bought a small bungalow in 1987 and worked at two jobs to pay it in 9 years instead of 20. Lucky I did cause now it's one thing that don't bother me as I'm jobless now.

With City taxes, Scholar taxes and Electricity (our only way to heat), I have to pay about 280$ monthly to stay in my house. A simple kitchen-living room-2 chambers would cost me about 550$ a month to rent. And it may not be heated. I'm not wealthy enough to do that now.

It's worst in Montreal. It could go as high to 900$ depending where you live. And in Toronto, it's way above 1100$. A regular simple no-extras bungalow would sell for more than 250,000$.

No need to say that salaries didn't follow that rise in about everything. In this capitalism system, we're getting poorer by the minute. It's no use getting us a 2% annual raise when we're facing an averaging 3 to 5% raise in cost of living. We just can't get by in the long run. Get me a ticket to India.

Here, it costs about the equivalent of $3.00 (U.S.) per gallon, although we use litres. It's a fucking rip off.

Thanks for the responses. Last time I was in Europe (2000), I recalled that the price of gas was 4-5 times more expensive than in the US. People here have a hard time believing that - spoiled as too many of us are and completely unaware it!

77 cents/litre, here.
Two weeks ago it was $1.06, and that was considered low.
