‘We will coup whoever we want’
Elon Musk sparks online riot with quip about overthrow of Bolivia’s Evo Morales

Image

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has stirred up a Twitter storm after seemingly suggesting that he has no objections to carrying out regime change operations for his company’s benefit. But some argued Musk was clearly joking.

The provocative comments were made after the billionaire businessman suggested that another government stimulus bill to help boost America’s faltering economy would “not be in the best interests of the people.”

One unpersuaded commentator fired back: “You know what wasn’t in the best interest of people? The US government organizing a coup against Evo Morales in Bolivia so you could obtain the lithium there.”

Musk, apparently unphased by the accusation, responded: “We will coup whoever we want! Deal with it.” In a follow-up tweet, he claimed that Tesla gets its lithium from Australia.

The post triggered Twitter pandemonium. Journalist Max Blumenthal claimed that Musk’s unapologetic tweet “practically takes credit for the Bolivian lithium coup.”

Not everyone took the Tesla CEO’s pronouncement at face value, however. Some observers argued that Musk was clearly joking, even if his jest was in poor taste.

“I get this is meant to be a joke, but this is really bad. Innocent people suffer when military coups backed by the US happen. You are making light of that suffering,” read one reply.

Bolivia’s former president, Evo Morales, resigned and fled the country last November following accusations of election fraud. In an interview with RT, he called the events “a coup” aimed at installing a right-wing leader who will open up Bolivia’s lithium reserves – some of the largest in the world – to exploitation by industry.

Earlier in November 2019, Bolivia axed a massive lithium project with German company ACI Systems Alemania (ACISA). Although it’s true that Tesla receives lithium from Australia, it is also said to be one of ACISA’s clients.

Elon Musk Challenges Johnny Depp To A ‘Cage Fight’ Amid Amber Heard Rumors

https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2551198/elon-musk-challenges-johnny-depp-to-a-cage-fight-amid-amber-heard-rumors

In case you haven’t been keeping up with the ongoing legal drama between actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, one of the celebrities who’s been dragged into the proceedings between the ex-couple is SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk, who dated Heard following her separation from Depp. Just last month, it was alleged that Musk had not only an affair with the Aquaman actress while she was still married to the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, but that Musk also had a threesome with Heard and Suicide Squad actress Cara Delevingne inside Depp’s own LA penthouse.

Not only is Elon Musk denying these allegations, but he’s also willing to face off against Johnny Depp in a cage fight… sort of. First off, here’s what Musk recently had to say about about the affair and threesome rumors:

I definitely was not having an affair with Amber while she was married to Johnny, this is totally false. We did not have the threesome, you know. So I think people think these things are generally more salacious than they are.

Elon Musk then added in his interview with The New York Times that he recommends that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard “bury the hatchet and move on,” and that he hopes Depp (who has derogatorily referred to the industrialist as “Mollusk”) “recovers from this situation.” However, when it was noted how a text message was read in court where Depp threatened to Heard that he’d cut off a part of Musk’s, shall we say, lower-down anatomy, Musk jokingly continued:

If Johnny wants a cage fight, just let me know.

While the prospect of Elon Musk and Johnny Depp going mano-a-mano would surely make for quite the pay-per-view spectacle, it doesn’t sound like Musk is truly willing to engage in such a brawl. Still, considering that Musk told podcaster Joe Rogan a couple years back that he’s trained in various martial arts, no doubt he’d be able to hold his own quite well. Nevertheless, this cage fight undoubtedly stands just as much a chance as happening as that fight between Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise: next to zero.

Even ignoring the Amber Heard/Elon Musk/Cara Delevingne threesome claim, the last month alone has been full of wild developments in the legal clashes on the Heard and Johnny Depp front. As part of Depp’s lawsuit against The Sun, which described the actor as a “wife beater” This includes a picture of an alleged poop Heard took on Depp’s bed being shared online, Heard claiming that Depp dangled a dog outside of a car and the actress admitting that she punched her ex-husband, but saying that it was in self defense. Suffice it to say that this particular celebrity drama isn’t dying down anytime soon.

As for Elon Musk, while he’s best known for his work in the realms of science and engineering, he also has made a name for himself in some entertainment ventures lately. Last November, he voiced an alternate version of himself known as Elon Tusk in an episode of Rick and Morty, and he’s also collaborating with Tom Cruise for the first movie to actually film in outer space.

Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates on the continuing Johnny Depp and Amber Heard saga, and head over to our 2020 release schedule to learn what movies are supposed to hit theaters later this year.

There's a lot of things about this guy I do not like. I feel like there is much more to the story than some super rich guy who likes to dig holes and go into space.

^^^Today, the main Brazilian newspaper, Folha de São Paulo published a 'web-story' on him, displaying him as a hero, and did not bother to mention this outrageous claim he made. Well done, FSP, well done, great journalism:

Mickey Rourke Challenges Elon Musk to Bare-Knuckle Fight in Johnny Depp's Honor

After Elon Musk made headlines by challenging Johnny Depp to a cage fight, the star of The Wrestler now wants to see him in the ring.

Johnny Depp's legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard has taken yet another turn for the strange, leading to a series of events culminating with The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke challenging Elon Musk to a bare-knuckle fight in defense of Johnny. It's hard to know exactly where to begin with this bizarre story, but to put it in a nutshell, Depp filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard following public claims that she had been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of Depp. Additionally, Depp is suing The Sun publisher News Group Newspapers and editor Dan Wootton for referring to him as a "wife beater," and many details of the trial have been made public.

One of the interesting takeaways from the legal battle is the inclusion of several random celebrities, which includes famous philanthropist and billionaire Elon Musk. After her divorce from Johnny Depp, Heard had been reportedly seeing Musk for some time, though Depp has alleged that she had been having an affair with Musk during their marriage. Heard has denied this claim, and in a recent interview, Musk denied it as well, insisting that he "definitely was not having an affair with Amber while she was married to Johnny."

Though Elon Musk also says Depp and Heard should "bury the hatchet," the billionaire also took some exception to an alleged text from Depp to Heard threatening to separate Musk from his genitalia. "If Johnny wants a cage fight, just let me know," Musk said in response, teasing a WWE-style showdown between Heard's former lovers. For his part, Depp has not responded to the challenge, nor does it seem likely that he will, considering the entire point of his big-money lawsuit is to debunk the claims that he's an aggressively violent person. Still, if Depp needs help, his Hollywood pal Mickey Rourke has no problem tagging himself in.

Taking to Instagram, Rourke posted this open challenge to Musk in defense of Johnny Depp:

"I just read that ELON MUSK has challenged Johnny Depp to a fight. I have the better idea if Elon Musk is in fighting mood he can fight someone his own size. I'd gladly love the opportunity to take you to school mr. tough guy Elon Musk. Bare fists, elbows and knees and I will only use one hand-my left. We can both put down $200k a piece, winner take all, no rules. So instead of picking on someone who weighs 130 lbs I am calling your ass out. Warmest regards, Mickey 'Marielito' Rourke."

Now, the ball is back in Musk's court if a legitimate fight is what he's after. As a former boxer and star of The Wrestler, besting Rourke in a fight would probably not be easy for Musk, and the philanthropist has yet to formally respond to Rourke's challenge. If Musk agrees, then the two celebrities may as well have their match in a WWE ring, as Rourke already managed to get some experience with the pro wrestling organization when he decked Chris Jericho in a special appearance at WrestleMania XXV. This news comes to us from Mickey Rourke on Instagram.
