In recent years, while on tour McCartney has been playing "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite" and doing it AMAZINGLY well. He always mentions the day him and John got the inspiration from that poster, then went on to write the song. Very cool story and very cool song.

'The day I met Paul McCartney I was singing "Be-Bop-A-Lula" for the first time on stage. There's a picture of me with a checked shirt on, holding a little acoustic guitar - and I am singing "Be-Bop-A-Lula".'

Crap, that's almost prehistoric. If that had been recorded, I'm sure some producer or record company would have ripped it off given a chance :smoke:

Cross-posting this on the 88 Show CD thread.

I was listening to The Beatles channel on SiriusXM and they were doing a show on Beatles and Beatles related covers. They played the Bare Naked Ladies doing "Let'Em In". I nice little pop song that basically has two parts to it (A. Someone's knockin' at the door, B. Sister Susan....) and it repeats them over and over. They played the whole thing. A bit of a snooze, IMO.

Then, one of the hosts starts talking about the 88 Show release and the cover of I Am The Walrus. They played only a small fraction of the song because, in the host's words, "it could go on a long time".

WTAF?!?!?!?!?!

You just let the BNL go on forever on a simple pop song, but you don't have time for the whole "I Am The Walrus"?!?!? What, you can't read the thing to know how long it is? It's about the same length as the original recording?!?!?!

I tend to read Beatles biographies, then toss them, in summer or on vacation. There was not a whole lot I had not read. The Peter Brown book I will never read. I hit on this as light reading.

I guess it was cartoonist Roz Chast that was the one that interested me. I only knew two of the other writers. Plus, a few of them are my age.

The Let It Be album stuff comes out in Oct. 4 disc version includes the Glyn Johns album. I'm told it's a lot like Let It Be naked.

Eventually movie DVDs will come out that will have the full songs as well. There is not much emphasis on the oldies jams. Abbey Road song demos.

I saw it. it was back in '72. I saw it at the movie theater in my hometown in sweden. I liked it. 8)

I also had the original lp. the cover was like a box to fit the book. but, I parted with it a long time ago...
