This is a thread topic I've been thinking about for awhile now because some artists that started out in the mid-late '60s have either already started touring with this title or are probably going to in the next few years.

A few that have already either started or have been announced, include, "The Who Hits 50" tour back in late 2014 and The Monkees 50th Anniversary tour, announced just the other week.

Before Chris Squire died several months ago, he apparently wanted to put together a similar tour with both '70s and '80s line-ups that Yes toured Union with in 1991-92 (which was their most successful tour) for a potential 50th Anniversary tour as well. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis (especially since Phil Collins recently came out of retirement), Jethro Tull, Return To Forever, Roxy Music, etc., all have their 50ths coming up in the next 1-5 years. And who knows, Rush may even think about performing one 8 years from now, that is, if Neil Peart ever wants to play live again. And last but not least, imagine how cool a David Bowie or Frank Zappa 50th Anniversary tour would've been if they were still alive?!

I personally think this type of tour would act as a perfect farewell for these artists before they sailed away into the sunset and retired...

Thoughts?

Mahavishnu Orchestra, 2021!

Actually, they could do a 45th this year. Think I'll shoot John an e-mail.

yeAH
!

Bring us Alice's Dementia, Juliet's Vice or whatever.

Rush is not from the 60s...

No way PF will reform again...

50 years of Freak Out! approaching... But that is the album. Zappa is not around to tour it. BTW I love the Unmitigated Audacity from BTB I. mainly for the FO! material in it...

Fuck YOU. Geddy CAN still sing. And very well, I might add! I saw them 3 times on the R40 Live tour last year. And despite detuning Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres I. Prelude, he was killin' it!

ROTF!

Well, since he's probably already blocked your email address, you'll have to meet your needs by either listening to the albums, or pretending that he hasn't blocked your email address.

Not a chance in hell, you eye-liner-obsessed, fan-boy, metrosexual. HE'S FANTASTIC, so deal with it!!! And the 442,336 other Rush fans who saw them on the R40 Live tour last year agree with me!!!

As a variation on the "50" thing, in 2017 it'll be 40 years since this was released:

A Heads reunion would be sweet. Unlikely, but there's always hope.

True. They could make a bunch o' bucks tho.... The original band members are all still alive. I'd love to see the Stop Making Sense band.

Yep. A Talking Heads reunion tour would easily do arena-level business...

Uh, that's NOT a clip from the 2015 R40 Live tour (which I attended here and in Seattle & Portland), you moronically aural-challenged hermaphrodite! That's a clip from the 2012-2013 Clockwork Angels tour (which I attended here and in Seattle). And it sounds fantastic!!!

If you want to see the Stop Making Sense Band they better hurry up. Bernie Worrell has late stage liver and lung cancer. :(

Not to be indelicate, but isn't he dead already?

jaypfunk ist absolutely right here. To my impression this is really horrible. Though I think Rush were always horrible. Second hand music by a second hand band. I admit, I sometimes confuse them with Saga. Same shit.

Who cares what tour it's from or how many times you saw it? It stinks no matter what. Idiot.

As a big Rush fan, I will say this: Geddy's last tour with a great voice was the R30 tour. He was still good for Snakes & Arrows, alright for Time Machine and not good for Clockwork Angels (as per JayP's video). But his voice did improve a lot for the R40 tour. Prior to the beginning of the R40 tour, I thought it would be the last because of Geddy's voice and not because of Alex's arthritis or Neil's tendinitis.

Neither of you are correct. And since you're both not really Rush fans, not to mention not well-versed enough to criticize the particulars of their music, it's a moot point.

I'm very detail oriented. And what tour it's from makes a BIG difference since I'm referring to the R40 Live tour! And this is because I will admit that Geddy's voice wasn't as good on the CA tour than it was on the R40 Live tour (as tiboubre pointed out). BUT I didn't have any problems with his singing then, nor do I now. And over FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND Rush fans agree with me, otherwise they wouldn't have spent good $$$ on tickets to see them live...

Again, not a 50th, but 2018 will be the 45th anniversary of the formation of:

The Dixie Dregs

Another show I'd definitely see.
