No quarter on TSRTS is maybe my fave track.

Reverse your first two sentences, and that's how I feel.

For my money, these versions of "No Quarter" are better.

Robert Plant's voice gets on my nerves.

John Paul Jones, imo, was the hidden gem in that band, a tasteful, understated player and a great arranger.

And, finally. With all due respect to anyone who likes this, what is good about this album? Perhaps, someone can tell me what I missed on this? I really tried to like it.

The proper uncut version.

Plant's voice aside, its a killer version.
Listened to the crowbar and tool versions, good but I'd give em a couple of listens max.

That's because you're not watching the right gifs. There are other gifs that, if you watched, you'd probably like.

How the West Was Won (at least I think that's the name of it) is the best live Zeppelin I've heard. Well recorded for the time, with a good mix too. The instruments are right in your face, where they should be.

ok, so i took your advice.
some of those gifs... i was like "wow!". others i was like "WHOA!!". i think i even caught my own foot tapping away.
YET those gifs - even the coolest ones - they only made me backtrack to the original gifs that inspired them.

cool experiment though, thanks!

Living in The Past is not just a Jethro Tull album; but a state of mind for some.

Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time

Number 3 Jimmy Page

Listening to what Jimmy Page does on guitar can transport you. As a lead player, he always plays the right thing for the right spot – he's got such remarkable taste. The solo on "Heartbreaker" has such incredible immediacy; he's teetering on the edge of his technique, and it's still a showstopper. But you can't look at just his guitar playing on its own. You have to look at what he did with it in the studio and how he used it in the songs he wrote and produced. Jimmy built this incredible catalog of experience on the Yardbirds and doing session work, so when he did the first Led Zeppelin record, he knew exactly what kind of sounds he wanted to get.

He had this vision of how to transcend the stereotypes of what the guitar can do. If you follow the guitar on "The Song Remains the Same" all the way through, it evolves through so many different changes – louder, quieter, softer, louder again. He was writing the songs, playing them, producing them – I can't think of any other guitar player since Les Paul that can claim that. By Joe Perry

Key Tracks: "Dazed and Confused," "Heartbreaker," "Kashmir"

It's in Rolling Stone maps, it's gotta be true!

you are an absolute dipshit if you are actually serious about this.

Frampton was killer when he was in Humble Pie and his 1st few solo albums were also great.

Back in the early 80's I saw Steve Morse and he brought Frampton out as a special guest. PF tore it up. He was amazing.

Yep, I read once that he wanted to be a guitar guy, not the pop idol that the record company wanted him to be.

Frampton chose to take part in sgt peppers lonely hearts club band. Genius! What more proof do we need that he was serious about being a guitarist rather than pop star?

Sorry to pile on waka. You're young so you deserve a break but also an education. Frampton was/is an excellent guitarist. CC DeVille is probably one of the worst/most basic/uncreative guitarists ever in a popular rock band (especially in an era when somewhat virtuosic guitarists were the norm in pop metal). Frampton took kind of a bad rap with his follow up to FCA (thanks to FZ and others - hey, "I'm in You" isn't a terrible pop/rock ballad) and the the Sgt. Pepper thing with the Bee Gees (Disco sucks, didn't you know?).

Ok, you're excused.

I'll clear it up.

I had never heard of Peter Frampton until dwoner made that post. But, seeing he put Dweezil and Jimmy Page over Hendrix, I figured it was sarcasm and thought of the worst guitar player I knew (CC Deville) and did an unfunny joke. What I don't get now is if downer was being sarcastic or not.
