Come now, it's not nearly as bad as Bavaria... :)

Hitler asks, at a meeting with four if his confidents, how long the army will last.
Von Brauchitsch: "5 years at least!"
And the airforce?
Goering: "At least 10 years."
And the German front?
Goebbels: "At least twenty years."
And the food supply?
Darré: "At least 80 more years.
Hitler: "Isn't that impossible for 100 million people?"
Darré: "No I meant for the five of us..."

On the air raids in Germany.
German complains to a Dutchman: "I went to Utrecht, wanted to buy a train ticket, I hear some noise behind me, look around, and my suitcase is gone!"
"Oh, that's nothing," replies the Dutchman. "I went to Düsseldorf station to buy a ticket, hear some noise behind me, look around suitcase gone and station is gone!"

Mein Kampf is reprinted in Germany. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't banned: the Bavarian government held the German rights and had, up until now, refused to allow publication. Iread it when I was university here - it was in the university library. It is, however, very boring and I'm quite interested in the subject.

It is the only book that's banned in The Netherlands. No nazi-propaganda or items are allowed to be sold. That said, I do sometimes see SS-medals and watches and stuff on flea markets or in second-hand shops.

You see real SS medals or badges from the WW2 period? what sort of price? I know collectors that buy that stuff, could be some money to be made.

There are a lot of traders in the internet. A first class iron cross for 240 € for example: http://www.germaniateutonia-militaria.d ... D=53903088

In The Netherlands people have actually been arrested and/or fined for selling online, now our biggest online auction site Marktplaats is more alert and will remove any ads for such things, if they find them. People at flea markets definitely know what to charge.

I tried to buy the new edition of Mein Kampf on Amazon de today (the day it came out - I'm actually more interested in the footnotes than the book itself). It is already "currently unavailable". I cannot bring myself to press the button that asks me to put it on the "keep me posted when it's available" list.

Let me summarize: There's stuff Adolf don't like.

I hope I saved you some money.

Oh, I've read it already; yours is a pretty accurate summary, though.

Looks like there is money to made on this type of memorabilia, I am curious if you find any of the items at a low price, but i guess most of the markets know what they have.

If Hitler had only stuck to being a mediocre painter...

"Artwork by Adolf Hitler could fetch hundreds of thousands: More than a dozen paintings by the Nazi dictator go under the hammer at auction in Nuremberg."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... mberg.html

He was alright at buildings...

... and landscapes...

...but pretty dreadful at painting people in landscapes or street scenes...

...which kind of figures.

Just finished this...

It's good, but not as good as this...

Before the next world war breaks out in Europe, I suggest we train an army of kittens.

Fuusen badokan, or fire balloons, were devices used by the Japanese army and built by school children. They'd consist of a hydrogen balloon with a bomb attached to it - a timer was set to make it go off after four days, which is the time it took to travel the Jetstream and reach the USA. Ineffective save one bomb that killed one pregnant woman and five children, yet the first intercontinental weapon.

How nice that the Japanese now restrict themselves to selling us useful and fairly cheap luxury goods - how times change!

A "Schwerbelastungskörper" they had to build to test the ground for such large and heavy buildings is still there in Berlin:

Today 75 years ago one of the largest European massacres of WW2 occurred in Babi Yar, a ravine in Kiev, Ukraine. On the 29th and 30th of September 1941, all Jews in Kiev were lured to Babi Yar for "resettlement". They were undressed, driven down a corridor, and shot in groups of 10. Afterwards the injured and dead Jews were covered in sand and buried.
