Well,the other "What's in your player..." was filling up,so I made a new topic area for it!

It's a cool way to find-out what's new on CD!

But,if ya have to wade through 12 pages ...well...it needs a new posting area,anyway.

My newest things that are cool are;

#1 Dave Douglas' "FREAK IN",besides being (by title alone) cousin to "Freak Out!",this is a great new Jazz title that takes the vibe of that freaky,funky mid-period(or lost period)of Miles Davis and adds a new perspective!
Joey Baron ,Ikue Mori,and Marc Ribot all make appearances here ,so you know this is high quality stuff!
Like I said the music is similar to say "Dark Magus" era Miles...there are flashes of synth and hot guitar work that will appeal to all that enjoy Zappa's work,too.
This is just a hot new jazz CD with an eye to the future and an ear to the classics...dig it!

#2 is Richard Youngs' "Airs of The Ear". Richard is a psychedelic folk artist.He plays fingerpicking guitar with repetative themes,and sings mantra like vocals...and appeals to a lot of folks into Nick Drake.
This new Cd adds touches of electronics and effects that really make the CD a tripped-out trance-psych feast.There are theremins,ring modulators ,and waveform generators used to nice effect.Add his beautiful songs into the mix and the whole thing makes a great late-night listen! A balm for the worried mind!

Well ,there ya go! My two new favorites....I'm waiting for a SOFT MACINE BBC 1967-1971 disc to arrive on my porch! When that shows I'll give ya it's "scoop".I hope the sound is alright.Hmmm.....? ::)

Besides Frank, the last few things I've listened to have been Cannonball Adderley-Phenix which has some of my favorite George Duke work besides work with F.Z. Before that was Charles Mingus-The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. This is one of my favorite Mingus albums of all time! Before that was King Crimson- In the Wake of Poseidon.
My most recent F.Z. listening was Everything is Healing Nicely! Let's hope everything does heal nicely
I look forward to touching base with fellow Frank fans.
Music truly is the best!

Phish-
I actually was curious whether people into Frank like Phish as well. I think the statistical density of their music certainly can be comparable to Frank's in some ways.
