I LOVE the Olympics! Ice dancing is pretty gay though.

I've been watching some of it. I like watching the skeleton, luge and bobsled. Some of the speed skating is cool.

I've tried repeatedly to understand that weird game but I don't get it.

Alpine skiing is cool, that's my favorite besides hockey. I can't believe we beat Canada! It's so strange for me to root against Crosby.

they ought to play curling the old-fashioned way, with brooms and real stones---now there's a game! love the luge, bobsleds, ski jump, snowboarding....i think i like winter olympics a bit more than summer. didn't always feel this way. i heard the dutch speed skater (who asked a reporter,"are you stupid?" for asking his name) blew the gold after his coach told him to move to the inner circle---which disqualified him, even though he finished 7 seconds ahead of second (now first) place. a bit of karma, maybe?
we've been watching the "oly's" every night, but i'm switching at 9 to watch "lost". it's only short program tonight for women's figure skating anyway.......

The downhill and bobsled are two of my favs.
Hoping to see both US hockey teams go all the way.

I love ice-dancing normally and strongly object the "gay" remark. But I didn't watch any of it, just a very tiny little bit of bobsled, waiting for the crash. That sport's so creepy!

Otherwise, no. Dutch media have decided to overkill us poor Netherfolk with Sven Kramer, and seeing THIS picture at about every bus stop and in my Donald Duck magazine every week (which is an ad for bread) really puts my mind off bread.

Watching every day. The Olympics monopolize our television viewing while they are on. I never get tired of watching them winter or summer. With hi-def tv, it's even better now. My new favorite winter Olympic sport is the snowboard cross and ski cross, where they race 4 at a time down the mountain. Awesome.

And Plook, I agree with you, I can't stop watching curling, even though I still have trouble understanding some of it. I don't even know why, I am just fascinated with it.

And I actually watched Ice Dancing for the first time this time. I usually switched to something else in the past, but it's my wife's favorite so I did watch it completely. I actually enjoyed it. And I don't care if you object to the "gay" remark, it is gay. That doesn't mean it's gay in the derogatory sense of the word, but the outfits are totally gay. That does not for a minute take away from the athleticism of the athletes who perform it. I admire anyone who can pull of that kind of skating and make it look so effortless. It takes great strength, balance, and stamina to do what they do.

Did anyone notice some of the song selections during the figure skating last week? A Japanese skater skated to Jimi Hendrix (don't remember the name of the tune) and someone else skated to a great blues tune. Good to see the music selection improving. When will someone take the ultimate leap and skate to Zappa?

Which brings up a good question. If you were a figure skater and wanted to skate to Zappa, which song would be best to figure skate to?

G-Spot Tornado?

I have been brushing up on curling and I have to say it rocks...lol

The rules are fairly basic it scores like horse shoes or bocci ball, except for no leaners or two points for touching. The only part I had to figure is the stratagy of leaving a "Blank House", which they do in an effort to have "last stone" which is the "hammer", that gives you a higher precentage of a 2 or 3 point score. I would like to give it a go, I am very skilled when it comes to hand eye coordination and pick up most sports and games relatively fast even for an old fart...

I would have liked to watch some of it; especially hockey, but we cancelled our cable-tv over a year ago, and it's not worth it to get hooked up again for a couple of weeks of olympics. but, I've caught some highlights here and there online.

sweden has 8 medals now. 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. 8)

I sort of hate the concept of whoever scores shoots first in the next round. To me I would rather see the hammer change teams each successive round, as to me it just always feels cheap to see them take both rocks out of the circle instead of trying to get every point possible.

I have played horse shoes, bocce ball, shuffle board, table shuffle board, at levels that are very competitive and the reason for the passing of the so called hammer or last shot in all of these activities...to keep the matches competitive, it doesn't allow one team or player to run away with a match to early.

On a side note...since no one was hurt did anyone see the awesome 2 woman bobsled crash of Germany when the break woman came out the back of the sled...WOW! Nothing like a good wreck where no one gets hurt...George Carlin says people watch these type of competitions for the accidents or potential for them, he said that people watched NASCAR races because it was the only way you could see a 30 car pileup without being in one...LOL

Naw, she had serious ice burn. see her walking away after putting on the "I'm Okay" show, that lady is going to be in serious pain for a week! No serious injuries though.

There was also Jeff Beck's A Day in the Life, used by Jeremy Abbott who is almost more fluid than Jeff Beck! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFmKiek4C4U (not Olympic version - I missed that and he didn't make the highlights programme) and Joe Satriani used by Vaughn Chipeur (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf8gqkiUPvg - again not the Olympic version - missed it).

My TV EPG seems to list curling all the time, which I don't find interesting at all and think it's not really a sport, rather a game, like darts, and so I've missed almost all the events I would have liked to have seen - ie the skiing and snowboarding events and some of the skating. Not really ever seen ice hockey other than the movie Slapshot (!) but was looking forward to getting into it had we managed to relocate to Vancouver. Parts of the opening ceremony and some of the general footage on BBC have upset me all over again showing what we missed out on.
