These are actual temps. Windchill made it feel much colder.

on average it's definitely warming up, although some parts of the South Island have been getting smashed with snow and bad storms causing major flooding.....locally we've just had a weeks worth of four seasons in one day weather, one minute it's super sunny and hot next minute it's torrential rain and freezing (relatively speaking).....

This morning in the cave it's a comfortable 18°C (64.4°F)

Right about now according to the man: 14°C (57.2°F)

Max: 20°C (68.0°F)

Min: 14°C (57.2°F)

Wind: 6 km/hr. (3.7 mph)

Rain Today: 0.0

Humidity: 91%

Clothing: 10% and burning

First cold storm of the season hits California.
When DZ books Hollywood in Dec., it never fails to be stormy. When it blows through on Saturday, It'll be 40deg.F and windy.

I hope there are no mudslides it the populated burn areas. Stay safe.

Now it's nasty out there when it's raining, temps around 40/4.5 an' all...

I put it off as long as I could, but just ordered one of these to keep the nasty shit off me this winter. This one has a hood which should be cool, I had it's hoodless little brother for years, but lost an hour fighting the zipper for the last time...

Hope you have a good one Daveo'

Mother nature just finished putting on a show, humongous thunder storm just passed us by. We were right on the fringe, window rattling thunder you could feel the breeze after every clap, there may be more to come.....

Severe thunderstorm watch for the lower and central North Island

There are heavy rain, hail and thunder warnings for the bottom half of the North Island, with dark clouds seen over the Hutt Valley from central Wellington.

Warmth and sunshine is being disrupted by rumblings of thunder as MetService issues a severe thunderstorm watch for the lower and central North Island.

Scattered thunderstorms and hail have been forecast for Sunday afternoon and are expected to continue into the early evening.

Residents of Taihape, Whanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua, Kāpiti Coast and Wellington have been warned storms could become severe.

The storms could bring heavy rain with localised downpours of between 25 and 40 millimetres per hour and "significant hail".

"Rainfall of this intensity can cause surface and/or flash flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips," the MetService warning said.

Crowds in the thousands took advantage of fine weather on Sunday at the annual Thorndon Fair.

Meteorologist Tui McInnes said thunderstorms were rare for the capital and people would have heard rumblings since about 1.30pm.

He said there was a chance areas with the warning could experience winds up to 110km/h, hail 20mm in diametre and if severe thunderstorms persisted there was a chance of a tornado - although there was no sign of one developing as of the early afternoon.

McInnes said people should keep up to date with weather warnings as tornadoes were known to build rapidly.

Storm clouds over Pauatahanui, as seen from Titahi Bay

Rainfall had set in over Lower Hutt just after 2pm.

After a warm morning, dark clouds could be seen coming heading South over the Hutt towards Wellington central.

Thunderstorm activity should ease by Sunday night.

Wellingtonians were out in the thousands earlier in the day for the Thorndon Fair, an annual street event which expected more than 20,000 people and 250 stallholders.

The event was graced with clear skies and warm conditions with patrons opting for snow cones and cold lemonade about noon.

The fair is an annual fundraiser for Thorndon School.

Raining buckets in SoCal.

There is snow on the ground on the Grapevine, near Fraiser Park. It's closed for now.

Hard Freeze Warning in effect for SoCal

Temps will drop into the upper teens to mid twenties tonight towards the Kern County line. (Only 35 deg.f for my zip code)

Impacts
A hard freeze can burst exposed pipes and kill crops.
Extended exposure to cold can cause hypothermia, including outdoor pets and livestock.

It'll probably be 70deg. next week

It's going to be 37deg. tonight. This is rare for SoCal, but it does happen at least once or twice a decade. Hopefully the wind will die tomorrow.
