Rope

Your narrative of the working poor being a kind of slave class is all true, but you can't somehow equivocate that to the Confederacy trying to break off from the United States.

That was done in an effort to keep a race of people enslaved, that slavery was no illusion of freedom while you worked to maintain the status quo, it was an actual affront to human existence.

While I understand the Confederates fought hard for their “Southern pride”, when they lost that flag was put to bed for almost 90 years. It was used by the KKK to intimidate and repress Blacks in the south, but was not flown at government sites or part of state flags.

Then in the 50’s when desegregation began the flag came back in a big way, it had become a symbol of Black oppression and was used as such, it was flown at government buildings and incorporated into state flags.

This was done to show the Federal Government that the South would not willingly give Blacks equal rights and to show the Blacks that if they attempted to realize their equality that the white southerners would unit to stop them.

This is a form of terrorizing a people and it was not ideal threats, as we have seen over the last 50 years or so as Blacks were denied equal access, brutally beaten, and horrible killed.

There is no amount of candy coating that will change the facts of what the Confederate flag symbolizes or why it fly’s on Southern government sites, or why it was incorporated into state flags…and if some Southerners find it as a symbol of their pride, they need to check that at the door since it would be the equivalent of Germans wanting to fly the Nazi flag as a symbol of pride, the concept is ridiculous.

Confetti flag = Freedom lost. Thats hilarious as it is ludicrous Rope! Bwahahahaha! The flag of losers who didn't get there own country by succession from our union. It shoulda been banned from ever flying anywhere for any reason back in 1866 right after they lost the civil war.
It's now the flag of fear as it's trotted out anytime the KKK or the south feels their coloureds are getting uppity or they feel threatened by those darn lefty northerners. Those southern peckerwoods who would deny anyone "but them good ol boys" from ever voting or having as much freedom as the rest do, just love y'all fighting over their right to fly a rebel flag. It must really tickle their fancy.

Both my folks were born and raised in SC. They graduated from the U of SC in Columbia, SC., then got the hell outta there. I spent my summers back there with relatives growing up. Mostly in Florence and Orangeburg SC. The latter being the birthplace of the Klan. I think I've related the story of the KKK coming by the house where I was babysitting one night in Orangeburg and demanding my BeaTle records?

Anyway, the further you get from Orangeburg, the more washed down the meaning becomes. It's a flag of hate. It's that simple, it doesn't stand for Scarlett or Tara or any freedoms lost. The people who tend to fly that flag like it's no big deal, or stands for something other than repression, are sadly mistaken. The undereducated, scared of the dark-ies, white folks are the ones who trotted it out like it was some kinda a pride thing. White pride that is. It was never meant to include the black, brown, red or yellow man in the south. Just a bunch a peckerwoods from Orangeburg, SC.. That's a fact, Jack!

I haven't viewed the fireworks in DC for a number of years. It's a short 30-minute, 13-mile trip from my house, and I'm kinda tempted to go this year. It shouldn't be too hard to lead a cheer of "LOCK HIM UP!!!!" when Trump shows up to brag about how great he thinks he is.

Heaven forbid! Our snowflake-in-chief can't be bothered with hecklers exercising their freedom of speech. I won't attend.

Trump's 4th of July 'Salute to America' event to include ticketed section for VIPs

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump's July Fourth celebration on the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, will include a ticketed area in front of the Lincoln Memorial where he'll deliver remarks.

The perimeter of the restricted area will be "immediately around the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and about midway down through the Reflecting Pool," said Matthew Miller, special agent in charge of the US Secret Service Washington Field Office, in a news conference Friday with local and federal officials on the July Fourth celebrations in the nation's capital.

The White House confirmed to CNN on Saturday that there will be a ticketed area for VIPs, friends, family and members of the military. Those tickets come at no cost, but the White House did not say how it would specifically be allocated. The White House added that the entire event is free for the general public with no ticket requirement.

Miller said the Secret Service will provide security for Trump's "Salute to America" event, but that the White House is issuing the tickets.

Kim will be pissed, he loves the Macy's thanksgiving day parade.....he's only missed one in the last decade.....
