We could get to the underlying cause of your tiredness, but Red Bull and uppers usually work.

The Band's Islands is better.

But I've never heard this King Crimson album so maybe I'm not one to judge.

I think The Band's Islands is a bunch of odds and ends thrown together after their Last Waltz. I'm certainly not here to give you advice but if you can handle Pete Sinfield's lyrics and Robert Fripp in the last stages of "hippie mode" you might give a listen to KC Islands.

beat

That's a whole different thing. Beat is from the early 80s Crimson with Adrian "I can make a guitar sound like a rhino" Belew.

Dear Calvin-
How can we prevent your thread from becoming a King Crimson discussion page?

Wouldn't asking for an advice book be asking for advice, let's ask Cal to advise us on that. ..

I'm not sure a book will be materializing any time soon, since I'm always refining my technique and would not want some advice to be set in stone.

Yes, my sage. So it will be.

So, what’s this shit about Belew not being included with the “new” Crimson?

KC doesn’t really come across as a political band so whatever political cretins you worship shouldn’t matter.

I miss Belew. I'd get rid of one of the drummers to make room for Belew. That's just me. Belew is now like the Martin Barre of King Crimson. Maybe he can't sing Starless or something.

Cal,
I think your continuing council here is far more important than discussing the Robert Fripp band.

Belew is much more than a Martin Barre (and I like Martin). He was the lead singer, frontman, lyricist, co-lead guitarist, occasional percussionist, and co-songwriter for this band for 30 years. Robert Fripp will always be a very interesting musician and the current KC is very good too be sure, but to exclude Adrian at this point seems like a bad idea. I understand Ian Anderson wanting to demonstrate that Jethro Tull is him.

I saw MB's last tour w/Tull. Eleven minute vesion of Heavy Horses! I think Doane Perry was on drums......shit....wait. Can we discuss Tull on this thread?

I don't know what you're on about. I was just saying that if you post that you like Trump, then all the anti-Trump people will start posting about what an asshole you are, and King Crimson will be totally usurped/forgotten.

Dear Calvin-
Why would Donald Trump be a point of discussion in a King Crimson conversation? Do some Trump supporters view “the Donald” as the Crimson (Day-Glo Orange?) King?

Signed,

Color Me Crimson and Confused.

Doug, I think I get what you’re saying but I’m seeking Calvin’s counsel for clarification. Thank you for your patience.

Nice. Heavy Horses is a good one!

KUIII makes a good point about Belew being the front man etc, but keep in mind that MB joined Jethro Tull before their second album. It's been most of his life. I mean, let's be fair, IA wouldn't even share a credit with John Evan on Locomotive Breath. Those song arrangements are a big part of the excitement. What would Mouse Police be without the arrangement? Or Back Door Angels, Skating Away, Heavy Horses etc. Folk songs? IA is certainly capable of doing more on his own than, say, Roger "I wrote everything" Waters, but he's not Jethro Tull. Not when MB was there from his early 20s to his 60s. MB and his "special material", as he is credited on 2 of Tull's most loved albums: Heavy Horses and Songs From The Wood. And what would Crest Of A Knave be without Barre? His playing on that album is worth 2 or 3 Matte Kudasai's.

Cal?

This is not a political thread, so you'll have to solve that elsewhere.
