To be honest, i've never heard of 'dogs die in hot cars' but i'll trust you on your judgement.

Fido3 has pretty much got our part of the world covered, but I'll add Ballboy to the north of the border list.

i used to work beside two of the guys from Dogs Die In Hot Cars at BT in glasgow...right pair of cocks. They got their name from a sticker one of their dad's (an animal lover) used to have on his car. I went to see them at king tuts one night and ended up nauseous from the music...got in for free though :)

As long as it didn't ruin your night completely, that's the main thing. :)

I only have one album of his, 'Dennis Cleveland'. It's a very pop inflected opera that makes a clear cut away from the European tradition (for one, it's about a Talk show host a la Jerry Springer). The Rhythms are incredible, as he piles one complex rhythm on top of another while still remaining catchy and accessible. Great libretto too (Personal favorite quote- "All my life I'm been LOVELES (L-O-V-E-L-E-S)" "Leave the S off for savings!"

Heh! We used to drink in the same dive bar on 9th Avenue. He would scribble in a notebook. He knew I was into music and so we never really spoke much beyond a nod & a hello. It was his hideout and I didn't want to bother him. Still have never heard his stuff...I figured he had the chance to pass me a complimentary cd...

Wow, that's amazing!
I really admire his compositional technique and it's results. One of the only pieces of Avant-Garde classical music I played while DJ'ing a teenage party and everyone still danced. (Though someone did ask, what the hell is he talking about?)

Seriously. Krautrock (actually jazz rock oriented) from the 70's. Great bass playing.

He he.. :P ..mellanspelet på melodifestivalen..

No but seriously...good music from sweden:

Björn and Benny wrote som good catchy songs altough i prefer their eighties stuff like chess or gemini
Starting to get into Lars Jansson a bit (jazz guy)
I also enjoy a swedish artist named Anders Glenmark who ( i think anyway) is a good pop writer but works mostly as a producer
Björn skifs made some good records in the 70´( the guy who did the more famous "hogashaka"version of hooked on a feeling :P )Arthur Barrow also toured with him before he joined zappa
And of course i have to give a shout out to a relative of mine Yngve Sköld who wrote some classical music but mostly film music troughout the thirties an 60´s http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yngve_Sk%C3%B6ld
