I thought the selections titled "Frank Puts His Foot Down" and "Steve Vai's Perspective" and similar were excerpts from the movie with the persons being interviewed. But it's actually the music that was played in the background and composed by John Frizzell.

Thanks, I was puzzled about what could it be composed by John Frizzell;

I started to listen the first tracks to it on Deezer, under sub-optimal conditions. Will try again today.

If I had watched the commercial I would have known that. :)

As a diehard fan who is a somewhat completist, I have no current interest in the soundtrack. The tracklist looks interesting and it seems they put some thought into it with emphasis on the early doo-wop & Varese influences over say the standard early album cuts/live takes and popular themes. It just seems like more physical product to add the the collection that's not really needed, as in a space issue.
At least there looks to be a choice on the film whether to buy Blu-Ray or DVD. I will buy the DVD. I refuse to convert to Blu-Ray. I have 3 or 4 Blu-Rays now that were either bonus discs in DVD sets, or part of a package with a live CD set that I haven't even watched yet. At some point I will check them at a friend or relatives house.

I went the PlayStation route for playing the Blu-Ray discs that have found their way into the collection.....

Exactly. I don't want to see material from that or other rare sources piece-mealed for bs releases like this. They've been teasing the Whisky '68 show ever since the little vault tour clip w/ Joe on the '/OS DVD.

I'm considering it, though it has the useless third CD. But I will look at any compilation that does not have Illinois Enema Bandit on it. I have enough of those.

I'd like the movie on DVD, though.

One Shot Deal

I'm liking this soundtrack quite a bit, including the Frizzell portions.

Went and ordered the soundtrack from Amazon, as I needed the free shipping on a computer related item. I hope I am still around by the end of February, that covid or the covid vaccine first dose (I am over 65) does not kill me.

Still have not seen the film. Probably after I hear the soundtrack. If you still can't buy the DVD. I have one made years ago, Eat That Question film. I think I only watched it once.

The film is now listing for preorder, for early March, on Amazon. DVD and bluray. They used a rather standard Zappa photo, rather thatn the cool soundtrack photo. The "Prime" video for 6.99 rent has the soundtrack cover.

It came late Sun night. Only played the third disc Zappa parts then. They are after the soundtrack parts. Not much to say yet. But the discs are very tight in the cardboard sleeve, so ended up putting all three in paper envelopes and just leave them between the covers. The booklet just has the track info. No text on the movie.

Added: It's still difficult to imagine the movie based on the soundtrack. On disc 2 it goes to a sort of vaudeville sequence of funny bits, then Apostrophe. I guess attempting to capture some spontaneity. Without any film to rely on, a similar effect was heard on Playground Psychotics.

Then disc 2 continues with more funny bits from Baby Snakes.

Then I don't know, more spontaneous stuff.

Having played most of the discs, I was only inspired to play the LSO discs, to see where Envelopes led. But I'm playing Sad Jane, then Disc 2, all.
