Nils Lofgren and I knew each other when we were in college together, back when he was in a group called Grin. What a surprise to hear Frank mention his name. 8)

I wonder what Frank’s motivation was for mentioning Nils. This was before he was in the E Street Band.

Nils Lofgren was doing stupid show effects on stage in the 70s like jumping on a trampolin while playing guitar. Maybe Frank was making fun of that. Nowadays people even need holograms for show effects.

Got 5 sides played this morning with second cup of coffee. My wife came down to our everything room so I had to skip the Enema Bandit side. Side 6 was worth it all, 5 is good too.

Well, this has solved a puzzlement I've had since way-back-when. Nils lived about 3 miles from me, and as I've previously written, we knew each other from college. During a school play that I was in, Nils unexpectedly did a summersault from the rear of the upper stage, down a ramp, and across the floor in front of the audience. He wasn't a part of the play. I remember seeing him later, sitting crosslegged, sharing a bowl with a couple of gals at the after-party. (Yes, I have that kind of memory.)

So, I just now checked out his bio, which reveals "Lofgren had been a competitive gymnast in high school, a skill that was used on stage later in his performing career and reflected in the name of his 1985 album, Flip."

Regarding the 5-cd set: I'm limiting myself to one disc a day. Today: Disc 3. 8)

I see the amazon price has gone up, again. It's now $89.99.

Sorry, I didn't mean to spoil anything.

BTW, when Frank played the Iron Man solo in the middle of Black Napkins...okay, that doesn't happen.

Ruth's piano rendition of The Black Page #1 at the end of disc 5 is very nice.

Thanks to everyone involved with releasing this set.

Converted the 6 sides to mp3 for iPod. The point of LPs to play sides, I don’t cut them into songs.

Most of my burned CDs of old bands are 2LPs to a disc. So 4 tracks usually. These 6 sides are more problemstic. Will just play the iPod mostly. Even that is so old it is isually plugged into a boom box to charge it while playing.

The problems of the modern age. Cassettes were so easy. My remaining LPs are in good shape as I just made cassettes of them. Rarely playing the LP.

I put all of the Zappa catalog on a hard drive so I can listen to something individually, or sometimes I just load the whole thing into VLC and use Random.

With the time I waste at my computer, there is a lot of Zappa in the music folders, but not especially good sound. The selection tends towards the early years.

My son has the hard drive strategy, just for space reasons. Every couple of years he comes by to copy what he lost. Both of us resist cloud storage. He had a Spotify account.

I do believe Calvin was making a joke there, Plook. The giveaway being his comment “okay, that doesn’t happen”.
