Looks impressive. It says 7 cd, but I wonder if there will be a USB option again.

Awesome!

The Halloween USB and costume set was pretty cool, as was being in the higher definition format, but I'm fine with CDs. Well priced for a 7 CD set. Doesn't say anything about being "limited edition" set, so that's cool too. Not rushed to purchase out of fear of missing out.

This idea of releasing full runs of shows is a winner.

Thanks Vaultmeister Joe!

On another note....if all of the shows were video recorded, there will probably be another Roxy Box down the road.

Am I right that it’s only available as a CD from one source? Price is fair though...

This is what jaypfunk has been advocating for years.

After he heard about this, I bet he had to change his underwear...

Oh fuck yes!

Of course, these shows are long overdue. But I'm sure once we hear them, it'll have been well worth the wait!

Oh CRAP!!!!!

Yes, this is very exciting news for this VERY important release but WTF??????

ZFT releases a stunning USB stick 24bit 44.1KHz audio release of all 6 amazing concerts for the 77 Halloween show and now they decide to release a 7 CD collection featuring every single moment of the Roxy album audio collection from the vault in.... wait for it.... wait for it..... 16 bit 44.1KHz audio quality.... GRRRRR

This is a MASSIVE step backwards and recordings of this magnitude deserve to be released in full 24bit 96KHz or higher sampling quality. Everything else is simply sub standard.

This is a set I'll be getting to support it but seriously, it is not top on my priority list for music purchases next year. Very upset. I'll bet the sampling of these was in higher quality to what your releasing on these seriously inferior red book audio CD's. For crying out loud. It's 2018 next year. The age of the CD has been shown up by Vinyl for years for goodness sake.

ZFT I've really appreciated your releases until this moment. HOW COULD YOU???? These are extremely wanted recordings and why not release them in the highest quality you can??? CD is no longer the answer. I'll bet you'd find a market for a vinyl release of this set without fail but for those of us who know our audio another USB stick release is seriously in order with 24bit 96KHz or higher quality audio files so the serious fans can enjoy these as if they were in the studio recording onto those very tapes.

Can't believe you've taken a step backwards and this fan for one is really upset with you. :(

^^^Don’t listen to him ZFT. I’ll take CDs every time in a nicely done box. I don’t know 24 bit from kibbles and bits and I’m not an audiophile but the remastered CDs sound great to me. I bought the Halloween box but wouldn’t do it again. I don’t want 15 hours of music on a stick of chewing gum. Different strokes for different folks though.

I'm with KUIII. This release is great news; much more exciting than that USB stick. CDs please!

Absolutely but sadly there's no mention of making this an SACD release. What's worse is that some folks will never understand as they have never experienced high quality audio releases.

Fingers crossed for SACD's but sadly I doubt it.

I've got about 30 DSD recordings(including the Frank Zappa Wind Ensemble recording) and they are all light years ahead of standard audio CD's but then you also need a player to take advantage of them and those are not cheap. As the release will no doubt cater for a mass market I've no doubt were looking at standard red book audio CD's here. The sales of the Halloween 77 set was a smashing success and if I'm not mistaken sold out so I don't understand why they would go back to CD's.

Yes, I would gladly pay extra for an SACD set but it doesn't look like were going to get it ursinator.

Curious to know if those who will be getting this set will now give away there 'Roxy and Elsewhere' and 'Roxy by Proxy' albums?

Because now those 2 albums will be redundant correct?

However folks who have Roxy and Elsewhere on vinyl would be best to hang onto it as that's going to be a better audio source than the red book audio CD offering here.

Does anyone know or perhaps the ZFT could enlighten us as to what the quality of the recording provided on Roxy the movie the Bluray is? The only information I've got is it's got LPCM Stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital surround modes. Normally the LPCM is 24bit 48KHz and the Dolby Digital anyones guess.

King Crimson recently released several Bluray audio discs in there stunning box sets cataloging most of there studio and live works. These are amazing. It's a shame the Roxy box set couldn't have been offered in a Bluray offering with higher audio sample rates. Then as most people have Bluray players everyone wins.(Even better bundle them.)

^^Yes!!! Those King Crimson boxes should be the standard. That’s what I was hoping the Halloween box would have been like.

No, because Roxy & Elsewhere contains music recorded, er, elsewhere - plus the Roxy material was overdubbed in the studio (eg. Napi's double tracked vox on Village Of The Sun).

As for Roxy By Proxy, not such a strong case for retaining but it features FZ's mix/edits whereas this new set is newly remixed and the shows unedited.

P.S. There's probably a stronger case for giving away your Roxy - The Soundtrack CDs now!

I hope not. Shipping to here is $20.00 USD.

Wunderbar!
Amazon.ca has it for $70.96 CDN and free shipping. ($55.13 USD)
(as opposed to HiFi 24-7's price of $59.98 + $20.99 (shipping) = $80.97 USD)

My shipping to OZ is less than $7 US from amazon.com. These places charging more than $10 for standard shipping are taking the piss. $20 or more is just outright thievery.

This just perplexes me beyond all power of reason. Roxy and Elsewhere is one of FZ's best albums and how anyone could consider it redundant after a live concert release of the source material is just flabbergasting.

This is available as a digital download from amazon.com. You get one track instantly. The advantage is that the shows are complete and continuous. But if you're not in the US you can't buy it because of territorial music industry bullshit. The digital download is not on amazon.co.uk and the box is marked as unavailable. (I still wouldn't be able to buy the digital download from amazon.co.uk.)

I want the digital download but I can't buy it. What the fuck??!!
