I understand there's some kind of ownership rights conflict with it?

The ZFT doesn't own it. I believe MGM/UA still does. They released it on cd about 15 years ago (a guess) on Rykodisc. That's been OOP for sometime. There's always hope that something of interest will be re-released. I'm hoping because I don't have it.

There's a used copy on Amazon in very good condition right now for $43.46 which isn't crazy ridiculous if you really want it.

The closest we'll have is the recent recording that was released but it's not the full pure original album.

I think those performances are pretty horrible.

I hope that MGM, or whoever owns 200 Motels soundtrack can release it I wish the Zappa family could get the rights to it so they could release it as they would do a better job and maybe even do something special with it that MGM probably wouldn't do. I have it on vinyl, but the vinyl I have is getting pretty worn out. I'd love this on a new CD set. Those Project/Object CD sets are among my favorite CD's I own by any artist. I wish other artist I like put that much into their releases, but it seems few care about their old albums. I think it shows how much Frank Zappa's family cares about his legacy, that they take the care to do a release like MOFO and LUMPY MONEY. Some of the posthumus albums are amazing, it makes me wonder why there were never released during Frank's lifetime. I wish there was a 200 Motels movie/CD reissue like with Roxy By Proxy.
