By the way, the story is that due to contemporary renovations inside The Ritz during the show, everyone in the audience had to stand for the show, so Zappa encouraged the audience to "pretend they walked off and came back" for the encores.
Guitarist Al DiMeola comes into the picture to play with Zappa for the world premiere of "Clowns On Velvet"; not together, however, because the stagehands couldn't hook up both of their guitars. Other problems are mentioned — Christopher Cross was meant to appear with them to sing "Ride Like The Wind", but he couldn't make it (he didn't make any of the promised Los Angeles shows), so drum roadie Brian Peters substituted.
