I was wondering if people could tell me just how distressing the audio deficiencies attributed over at [url]http://www.lukpac.org/~handmade/patio/vinylvscds/faq.html[url] to the currently standardly available editions of Zoot Allures, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Chunga’s Revenge, Them Or Us and Sheik Yerbouti (in the approximate order of my current level of interest in them) would be likely to be. I would be more than a casual listener, but not necessarily a hardcore audiophile either. Would the problems with these CDs seriously interfere with enjoyment of the music if one had nothing to compare them to? I know there’s a highbrow debate already going on in a nearby thread about the need for a sonic overhaul of the catalogue, but I ask as someone who has never heard the original vinyl versions and probably never will. Once again I beg your kind indulgence of a humble (relative) newbie…
