Get ready to wave your Zappa Anthem Flags high. As I give a first listen to the Trident Disk there are several tracks I consider Anthem Songs.

The Queen of England should posthumously Knight FZ. Clearly one of the ground breaking Studio recordings ever made in England. There should be 500,000 in front of Buckingham Palace waving Zappa flags.

The Trident Studios C. Bechstein Piano rings in the glory on Envelopes. Having George Duke with the band, he has the chops to play Envelopes or get funky. The Basic Track recording of Wonderful Wino gives all a chance to hear the latter. Giraffe(take 4) is another fine example to hear how the C. Bechstein fits in a so called serious music composition, where this arrangement has many layers.

I hear no reason why the Trident recordings should not be held in the highest regards of anything ever recorded at this studio. 2 days was a short time with results for the ages.

In having just listened to the opening Trident Disk, I am confident in saying this recording is for eternity of mankind.

Hope all will join the listening party today and wave their Zappa Anthem Flags High

I placed disc 1 into my CD player and was soothed by what I would consider something that the Gods might have invented. I consumed every digital bit and was enthralled by the sonic genius of Mr. Frank Zappa. I cannot tell you how wonderful it felt to be in the same lifetime as this man. Notes that assault your brain and leave you gasping as if after hundreds of connubial joinings and your muscles all ache with the sheer joy of this recording, The Mothers '70.

(Okay, I can't keep doing this, I do really like it.)

OK bargain hunters,

That's a nice find. While I am not familiar with them I'd call that a bargain , it's worth noting, minus the promo, that Amazon is currently selling this tittle at the same so called bargain discount price.

I've been using Amazon for many years now, with Prime Membership I get free shipping, I can also stream from my account.

I still miss the old days of going to a record store every Friday and getting a new LP. Speaking of record stores, the Mothers 70 pin is a nice box set item, very reminiscent of ticket add on items at the record store sales counter.

In a way, yesterday's listening party was very much like being in a record store on release day. The store would be playing the new record release, you would be there talking with friends about the new releases, making friendly conversation with sales people and anyone else browsing and buying records. Whatever retailer you went to a common denominator was lots of positive energy. It was culture.

I am so very thankful for all the hard work that goes into making these releases. Ahmet and Joe are doing a fantastic job. I don't want to spill the beans but the liner notes give you great insight on the band and these recordings. Their participation in yesterday's listening party gave added insight, more data that there is not space in allready detailed liner notes. I can see where they can expand that concept, not only on future tittles but the existing catalog. Possibilities are limitless.

While I don't have a transcript of yesterday's listening party , at a point where all were listening to Red Tubular Lighter ( Unedited Master) Ahmet passed a comment where FZs guitar made him feel like a nest of hornets were buzzing inside his head. That concept had me thinking of Frank Zappa as The Green Hornet. Imagine if you will, Red Tubular Lighter as a sound track.to a Green Hornet movie. Upon first hearing the tracks I immidiately thought "Anthem".

The many layers of Frank Zappa's Guitar and Bass playing on Red Tubular Lighter are compositional bliss. In comparison to Apostrophe, I can understand where Frank may not have been too keen on Jack Bruce's tracking.

Where Frank can play the parts himself, it appears he knew more of what he wanted of each. It's Apostrophe on Zappa Freak Flag steroids. The layers of the composition stand out more than just an overtly busy bass part with guitar and drums. There is no reason to downplay my appreciation of Apostrophe but that trio seemed more jam than Frank Zappa's compositional direction.

The simplest way to sum up the overall experience is we get to spend some time of 2 days in the studio with the 1970 Mothers and then we get on a bus on a Zappa Mothers Magical Mystery Tour.

There is one mystery that always remains. Each and every ZFT release is eagerly awaited by a loving community like no other. Just as in James Bond films Frank Zappa Reterns in Official Release #117.

Those buggers came out with that 15% discount code just hours after I had already ordered it with a 10% discount code! Oh well, still a lot better than if I had ordered it from Amazon the same day (before they lowered the price themselves).

Another great Amazon perk. In my pre-order I was locked in, where if the price comes down I get a refund in price. I just received a notice that I was issued a refund of $4.99.

A friend of mine offered a lossless download to me on Dropbox, but I've decided to wait for my bought-and-paid-for copy to arrive by mail today. 8)
